Pound Cake

Southern pound cake that bakes up moist, tender and full of flavor.



  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract

Cooking Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 325 F. Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a large bowl; set aside.
  2. In a seperate mixing bowl mix together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with a whisk or electric mixer until creamed. Beat in eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Whisk in sour cream, then the vanilla and lemon extract. Add flour mixture, folding to combine thoroughly.
  3. Turn batter into a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
