G Garvin announces the return of the G Garvin Culinary Bootcamp for 2018. This year, with the help of Chef Keio Gayden, this outstanding culinary mentoring program will be open to Dekalb CTAE CULINARY students for June 24th - June 29th.

The Culinary Bootcamp is an intensive, week-long summer program designed for each participant to walk away with the knowledge, awareness and mentorship required to establish an successful career in the culinary arts; and a hands-on opportunity to experience cooking in a creative way that enhances new talents and abilities. Chef G. Garvin and Chef Keio Gayden will lead participants through an eight-day/seven-night interactive mentoring program designed to showcase a variety of cooking techniques and hands-on learning experience, which include:

  • Recipe and menu development
  • Restaurant/Hotel visits and training
  • Business plan concepts
  • Knife skills and safety
  • Agriculture/farming
  • Round table discussions
  • Community service activities
  • Informational lectures from industry expers and professionals
  • Food science
  • Food costing/purchasing
  • On camera speaking techniques
  • Hands-on lab learning experiences

The G Garvin Culinary Boot Camp is open to Dekalb CTAE CULINARY students ages 16-18 years old. Students will be selected through a 500 word essay competition and completed application by April 15th, 2018. For more information contact Chef Keio Gayden or visit the G Garvin Foundation website.
